Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question about Summit Boulevard Dental or dental care in general? Then you’ve come to the right place! Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions our team receives every day. If you have more questions for us, then please feel free to give us a call anytime. We’re always happy to talk to you and make sure you completely understand your family’s dental options.

How frequently should I see a dentist?

Our entire team agrees with the American Dental Association on this one: patients of all ages should see a dentist at least twice a year for routine checkups and cleanings. This (along with brushing and flossing) is the most conservative and effective way to prevent cavities and gum disease long-term, plus regular visits enable our team to catch and treat small issues before they can become big headaches!

Do you accept child patients?

Yes! Our team is able to treat patients of all ages, so you’re more than welcome to bring the youngest members of your family to come see us. Many of our team members are parents themselves, so we’ll be able to keep your little one completely comfortable while providing services specially designed for their growing smile.

Can you help with a dental emergency?

Yes! Whether you’re dealing with a broken/knocked-out tooth or a severe toothache, we’re ready to provide the fast and professional attention you need. Just give us a call as soon as you need help—we’re often able to treat emergency patients the same day that they call in!

Why are root canals so painful?

This is actually a common misconception! A root canal is used to relieve pain and save a tooth that has developed an infection in its dental pulp, which is where its delicate nerve is located. The procedure itself is actually quite painless thanks to anesthetics and sedation, but many people confuse it with the discomfort stemming from the initial infection.

Why are the wisdom teeth removed so often?

Because most people simply don’t have enough room in their mouth to fit them! As the wisdom teeth struggle to come in, they can cause pain, teeth crowding, and even develop an infection that goes all the way down to the jawbone! Thankfully, we’re able to safely remove wisdom teeth right in our office, often before they cause any of these problems.

Will you accept my dental insurance plan?

In all likelihood, yes. Summit Boulevard Dental is happy to accept insurance plans from some of the most common providers in Reno, and our team will do everything we can to maximize your benefits at every visit. To learn more about how we can use your particular plan, give us a call today.

Can I finance my dental care?

Yes. If you would be interested in spacing out the cost of your care, then you can easily sign up for a low-to-no interest payment plan with CareCredit through our website. Simply click on the button on our New Patients page to explore your options and select a plan that works for you.
